Going by bus to the Smile City, as Niterói/RJ is affectionately called, is as the name implies: All smiles! The trip to the destination is usually made by a stretch of BR-101, a road with beautiful landscapes that connects Rio Grande do Norte to Rio Grande do Sul. The access to the city is through the Rio-Niterói Bridge, which is 13.29 km long and its pillars 72 m high. When the bridge was inaugurated, it won the title of the second largest bridge in the world and is currently the largest in the southern hemisphere! The bridge itself is amazing, but when added to Rio's beautiful skyline, it looks fantastic. <3
Upon arriving in Niterói/RJ, travelers are very well welcomed by the Presidente João Goulart bus terminal. With operation and security 24/7, the place serves an average of 535 thousand travelers per day and has 19 partner companies. The main ones are Costa Verde and 1001, both with over 40 years in the market! Besides being a modern terminal with excellent service, it's well located in the city. Nearby are the Niterói Popular Theater, the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation and the Roberto Silveira Memory Center.
That Rio de Janeiro is wonderful everyone knows, but it's known by few that just 13km from the capital is one of the best places to marvel at the landscapes and beaches of Rio! Niterói/RJ is located on the opposite side of Guanabara Bay and is the best option for those who want to escape the crowded beaches of Rio, without giving up the incredible landscapes that feature Christ the Redeemer and the Sugarloaf. Niterói/RJ is one of the main financial, commercial and industrial centers of the region. And it's even been the capital of the state! There is no shortage of places to visit, but what you can not miss is a trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and postcard of the city. With a unique architecture and a beautiful view, one does not even have to enter the museum to be enchanted by the place. And if you like beaches, you'll love the city's 11km stretch of coastline. If you want to relax on the sand and see breathtaking landscapes, go to Icaraí Beach, from there you can see Christ the Redeemer and the Sugar Loaf cable car. But if you like to enjoy the sea, the right place is Itacoatiara Beach, one of the most beautiful and beloved of the city. :) Ready to meet one of the most beautiful cities of Rio de Janeiro?
