In 1968, entrepreneur Jelson da Costa Antunes acquired the company, but years earlier, in 1940, he was already in the passenger transport segment. The owner started the journey at the age of 19 with his brother. In this period they had only 4 vehicles for coach trips, but with determination and willingness to improve road transportation, they started acquiring several companies, such as Niterói Bus Company and Brasília Bus Company, until unifying them into one: 1001 Bus Company.

The bus company is part of the JCA group, which also includes the companies: Cometa, Catarinense, Rápido Ribeirão, Expresso do Sul, among others. The group is responsible for bus trips of nearly 100 million people per year.
